Deidesheim
Kieselberg

Gravel, coarse sand, clay towards clayey sand, with boulders in places and scattered, weathered limestone soil
Our oldest vineyard, at around 60 years old. Ungrafted vines on a plateau in Deidesheim that’s traversed by small mottled sandstones and large pebbles. The plateau and the Kieselberg mountain stretch out over Deidesheim and above the Leinhöhle like a shield, a natural barrier against floodwaters from the Rhine that have left an enormous amount of rhinestones behind here. The pebbles’ minerality and the mottled sandstone’s storage capacity make for an incredible sophistication and slight salinity.
